About Clayco Solar
Clayco solar was founded in 2011 by business partners and siblings. Clay Mauldin and Jeannie Moody.
The start of Clayco Solar. Clay wanted to put solar on his home. He had estimates with overpriced equipment and overpriced commissions that sales reps were pushy. The DIY groups had limited equipment and unqualified contractors doing their installs. Not only were the prices insane he couldn't find any company that lending options that worked for him.
With a background in Electrical Contracting. Clay decided to do solar on his own home. After seeing the savings and benefits from his solar system. Clay decided to start offering these services to friends and family. Which has led to the business we have today. Offering great services at a good price, we have expanded to two locations. And helped thousands of customers to go solar. What sets us apart is our determination to give you multiple options in all parts of your solar project from designs, equipment, warranty options, multiple lenders and the friendliest staff.
Our Expertise
Clay has been in the electrical industry since 1995. At the age of 15 Clay started working for his uncle's learning the electrical trade in Tucson Arizona. While in Tucson learned how to run the family business, wiring and fixing electrical in both residential and commercial projects. Clay made the move to San Diego in 2001 where he continued the electrical trade. In California working for companies like Taco Bell, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint as a construction project manager. The corporate world was not for him so he decided to take all the knowledge he acquired over the years and build a company that could help people and the community that he served.
Jeannie became Clays business partner in 2015. With Jeannies background in running business Moody Scissor, Mauldin & Moody LLC and Moody Trucking she has the experience and knows what it takes to run a successful business. Handling the office work that comes with a growing business, managing employees, handling customer's needs, dealing with financial intuitions, utility companies, AHJs, company financials and marketing the company are some of her daily tasks. What made Jeannie decide to join the team? In 2015 her son joined the Army and Jeannie knew with her only child gone she needed something challenging to keep her mind at ease.

Clayco is not only part of the community chambers in our areas or the National Solar groups we belong to, but we also believe in giving back to those around us. We have been part of and donated to dozens of charitable organizations for our entire existence and proud of the changes we have helped to make.
